He's asking $70. Unfortunately I didn't see this until now or I would have driven up there to take a look.
Here are some of his pictures
Wow....looks too clean to be that old....talk about a barn find that was stored in the glove box ....Bill
I just picked up a #14 Trade reel called the "Atlantic Ocean" 14. It has 3 pillars as did all Penn Atlantic #14's when they were introduced, and this was a throwback as all the other Penn reels of that size in '39 had four pillars, two fore and two aft with nothing to get in the way of one's thumb.
Anyone know if the 14 kept 3 pillars throughout it's entire life (ending in the '51 catalog), or did it go to 4 pillars later in its life?
Thanks.
Sid
Edit: Doh, I answered my own question. The 14 had 3 posts its entire life, which ended in 1951. There was no mention of the 14 in the 52-3 catalog. Not a bad run for a reel that started out selling for $1.50 that survived the wartime slowdown. It sold for a whopping $3.50 at the end of its run.
Right, Sid --
Just looked into the sideplate files -- found a set of 14's -- 3 posts.
Best,
Fred
