Title: Need Your Input
Post by: Maxed Out on May 15, 2017, 06:35:34 PM

I know this will sound like a silly trivial question, but it is important for me to have input from as many of the Ohana as possible.

I'm in prototype stages of new handle/knob project and looking for input from the Ohana.

What I'd like to know is which grip you most commonly use ?? Here are the 2 examples using a 113H T-bar handle.

Do you grip this handle with just one finger on top half, or 2 fingers on top half ??

For myself, I always use just one finger on upper half of the knob.

 Thanks in advance, Ted

Depends...when the fishing is really good I get blisters between my fingers so I switch it up depending on the pain level.

Has to do with the knob size you're thinking of using. On larger knobs, my index sits against the knot shaft, just the thumb is above
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/Photo%20May%2016%209%2003%2037%20PM.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/Photo%20May%2016%209%2003%2037%20PM.jpg.html)
If I were to place my index on top as you're showing, the tip of my thumb would hit the arm as it rotates.
The way I'm showing, helps  keeping my elbow close to my side, that's how I like it on heavy cranking.

But...I do not have girly hands ;) ;D

Perfect Sal, that's really the correct answer. It definitely depends on the knob size and style.

I do the vulcan death grip (2 fingers) like Mo, but if I can adapt from lefty to righty than I can adapt to 1 on top and 3 down low... or as Sal has shown.
Dom
PS- Sal, you certainly don't have "girly hands", lol
