Title: Spools for the Newell 220
Post by: fishhead69 on November 11, 2017, 04:03:21 PM
Will an aluminum spool from a Newell 220 "Blackie" fit a Newell C, G or S series Newell 220 reel?

It should fit, I've used blackie 322 spools in other 322's, worked fine.

When swapping aluminum or graphite spools between different reels occasionally you'll find the spool lip rubs the inner rings. Usually it's fine but occasionally you either need to swap different rings in till you find a set that clears or slowly shave down the inner radius with a dremel carbide bit. Also the shims required to center spools will vary when switching spools out so have a variety of different thickness shims ready.

FYI, Tiburon is making aluminum spools for the 220's. All colors in stock. They're not on the website yet but they do have them. I believe they are $ 55.00 ea.
