Title: How do I remove this cog wheel--Abu 4600?
Post by: festus on November 13, 2017, 12:34:06 AM
This cog wheel has no c-clip or screw holding it on, never seen one like it.  The schematic doesn't show a fastener, could it just snap off?

I use a heavy piece of monofilament line. It will pop right off. Try to get a line that will fit in between the plastic teeth of the gear.

Thanks Handi, is it best to fit the mono between the teeth of the little top gear or the bigger bottom gear?

I would think you would slide it under the large one and toward the center.

There are small "ears" close to the shaft. Bend them outwards a little using a small flat screwdriver and simultaneously lift the cog wheel upwards. It should pop out. Just did it a few minutes ago.

Yup, I got it out following those instructions.  The last couple days I've serviced two more round Abus with the same setup, a 5500 HCL and a Royal Express I, along with the 4600.
