Title: Why it was time to buy major components
Post by: ReelFishingProblems on February 03, 2018, 05:37:49 PM
So you may have seen that I bought a few parts lots just to upgrade one reel.
I couldn't get the screws on the clicker plate loose even after soaking in solvent. Knowing the spool was pretty beat up anyways, I carefully drilled them out (don't want to ruin that beat up spool)

As I pried the clicker plate off, I saw this. This spool had to go. Now the reel will look like somebody actually cares about it

This reel desperately is begging to be taken care of. It's like that old '57 Chevy rusting under a pile of blackberry bushes.

I feel like I should send it to a biologist to see if there is any life inside that crud

A friend of mine found a tiny crab and a barnacle inside one of his reels. He was not renowned for servicing them very often. This spool could have been one of his  ;D
