Title: Daiwa Saltiga SA30 drag backing off
Post by: Pappy on June 08, 2018, 11:06:34 PM
Hi, I started breaking down my Diawa Saltiga SA30 to change the drags, I noticed the key item 57, watershield C is torn. Is it really needed? If so, where can I find one? Also, after replacing the drags with greased carbontex washers I get good drag for the first two testings then it backs off without touching the star. I broke down the reel two more times and followed the schematic step for step when putting it back together. No joy! Same results, Am I missing something?

The star backing off by itself usually means that the metal drag washers are out of order.

Thanks for the info. I'll break it down again. I've done it twice before but maybe I missed a step. Do you think I need to replace the metal washers?

No, just check the order. It's keyed, slotted, keyed.

Alan, is that watershield C needed?

no, not if you have greased carbon fiber drag washers.
