So i've got two on my workbench that need new drags...bad.  The original canvas ones with the metal backing plate are currently in there and are fried.

What has everyone done to replace these?   Both of them need Carbon style drags in there.

Who makes the replacements?

Most of the advice I've found on the forum is to call Okuma....But i haven't seen anyone post what they've found??   ??? ???

Call Dawn at Smooth Drags with the measurements of the old washers.
http://www.smoothdrag.com/

If you really have to, you could cut your own from carbon fiber sheet.

Then you will need to do this:

The Okuma route would be the path of least resistance. Checking on Mike's Reel Repair, the TS 50's series all look like they use the same 11611011-067 drag washer. From Alan's tutorial on the TS 50 II (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=15.0), that washer should already be carbon fiber.

Email Daniel Ramos at Okuma.

He quoted me $25 for a carbon fiber disk for my Titus Silver 50 II

I called Okuma and they are sending me  a replacement drag. We shall see what it is, but it certainly wasn't $25.00

I'll keep you posted.

$25 seems reasonable unless you are cutting the drag washer yourself.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I have a  Okuma TG 50 w 2 speed and two spooles the spool I the reel has a cloth/ rubber washer, the spool with the tabs/ears has the same rubber thing in it plus a very thick washer that looks like it was made from brake material. I emailed Okuma and thy said they don't supply drag washers for this reel anymore.

alantani

maybe measure the outside diameter and let us know.  someone might have something that could fit.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I could cut you one but I am in New Zealand
Its pretty easy
you can get sheet from smoothdrag I think
follow video posted earlier in this thread but skip the ears and finish with scissors and files
good luck
Jon

Use old washer as template and glue on with slow cure two part epoxy
