Hello,

I just finished a Stella 20000F and it had been previously serviced with the red Inox grease. After cleaning the entire reel I looked like I had been in a knife fight with red blood all over me.

The reel was very sluggish but now spins like a new reel.

Is this grease available in the USA or Australia only?

Hi Keith,

It's available in New Zealand too. I use their MX6 (Teflon based) for drag washers. Cal's is too hard to get over here & it costs a fortune too. I never used the MX8 I just use normal lithium based EP2 for my old spinners. Probably would go for something more high tech for my newer ones. What do Shimano recommend?

I know Hobietate fishing here on Oahu is an INOX dealer and carries the MX6&MX8.  He swears by the stuff.  It does stay put, has excellent corrosion protection properties and longevity.  The MX8 is a bit thick, and is a pain to clean up though.  I'm sure there are other US-suppliers.

Mx8 is what I would use in your trailer bearings or outboard. I use MX6 for almost all reels.  For larger gearsets I have been using Daiwa Moly.  I haven't tried it on drags because I still have a good supply of Cal's, but I might just give it a go.

MX8 will be fine for the larger spinners and overheads but I don't recommend you use it for smaller spinners

Cheers Jonno,

I still have half a tube of MX6 left, a little goes a long way. I use the INOX spray on my outboard it's great stuff. Starting to get the boat & all my gear ready for labour weekend depending on the weather gods.

Right you are.  Hobietate uses the heavier, red colored, MX8 grease on all of the reels he services (large trolling reels).

Here's the link to the lighter weight, brown colored MX6 grease..

According to their website the following is their main US-based wholesale distributor:

United states of America
Candan Industries USA LLC
Palatka  Florida 32177

And their website lists 694+distributors in the US.  Here's the locator link:

Hope that helps.

I went ahead and ordered some from a US supplier and the salesman had the Aussi accent. The price isn't bad at all. I have and use all the other greases so I'll give it a try b/c I'm just curious..!

How much do you guys pay for mx8 over in the U.S if you don't mind me asking?

handi2

The large grease gun tube was $17.95 and the large 500G tub was 19.95. 11.95 Flat Rate shipping so it isn't the cheapest around. The Yamaha grease I get at a local dealer just 1/2 mile away.
