ambassaduer 4600 ultra cast $100

a guy shipped an abu 4600 ultra cast to me for service, but it had a broken frame.  i told him that the frame would be $45 and that a new reel was $110, so he said "keep it!"  i just finished fixing it up with a new frame, carbontex drag and a bearing service.  the stock drag washers were replaced with grease carbontex.  the bearings were pulled out, the shields were removed, they were cleaned, lubed with tsi 301 and reinstalled open.  when you spin the handle and then kick it into free spool, the leveler travels 12 times across the length of the spool before coming to a stop.  nice little reel.  it's very smooth and has great freespool.  the price is $100 with shipping included.

whoa..12 times...across the spool !!

I had a 4600 rocket, clean and lube with tsi301 on the bearings, spool shaft and level mechanism..and the best i had was probably 4 times.
Mine is not an ultra cast model and only comes with two bearings (both at spool).

I wonder where and what did i miss out to achieve your reel free spooling performance??

i carefully cleaned out the levelwind assembly and spool bearings with carb clean and compressed air, then dipped the parts in tsi 301.  it's alot of work, but the results are fantastic.

Is your reel comes with bearings on the levelwind assembly?

My rocket model has no bearings on that part..and my result was also based on empty spool..thus, less inertia.
I clean it up and lube them the same, spool bearings, shaft and level wind mechanisms....minus the compressed air..
Maybe an bearing on the level wind might help...

nope, no bearings in the levelwind assembly.  it spins fine without!
