For you Northeast guys, what would be the best Newell to use for Blackfishing? (Tautog)

Always wanted to try one too.

I like either the "P" or "G" series 229. Shallow water under 100' "P" or "G" 220. The insides are the same for both reels, it's just more line capacity from one to the other. You could upgrade the drags to a set from Bryan if you like. SS Abtec 5 bearings are fine. I open mine & lube with TSI 321.

I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Would a good used (8-8.5 on a 10 scale) G229F in its original box work for you at $145?

bluefish69

That's a good price for that model.

Maybe. I'm not that familiar with Newell. Let me do a little more research on the models and get back to you after Easter.

Can you post a picture of it?

Hi Randy, do you have any Newell 334, P or G series left?

Doso

You have the wrong Number for the reel either P-338 or P-344

Sorry Mike, I meant 344 :)

Vintage Offshore Tackle

I have a nice no letter 344 that has the p series style adjustable bearings on
Both sides.  I also have the p series 344 base and bars and a black ice 344 aluminum spool and sets of p and g 300 series side plates, but I do not have an original p or g 344 at the moment.  Thanks for asking.
