John,
I have a light fiberglass spinning rod that belonged to my mother.
I don't want to restore it, I just want to protect the blank and the threads that hold the guides. There is almost no coating on the rod.
The rod is fairly flexible, probably a 2 or 3 wt.
What would you suggest for an overcoat keeping in mind that we will use this rod , Grammy would have wanted it that way.
Thanks in advance.
There is nothing like lying flat on your back on the deck, alone except for the helmsman aft at the wheel, silence except for the lapping of the sea against the side of the ship. At that time you can be equal to Ulysses and brother to him.

I use thread sealing epoxy for coating the entire rod, but thin it out.  What brand are you planning to use?  This may help one of use to figure out what thinning agent you need to add to the epoxy mix.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

The only writing  on the rod is:Actionrod $15.95
This more a sentimentel rod than anything else  but it will get fished, sometimes by little kids.
I value the help and guidance folks, this rod means alot to our family.j
