Randy what an awsome line up of reels. I'm eyeing one of those TLD's. I'll let you know.

For a collector looking to either add a piece to their collection -- or a fisherman looking for "THAT" reel to round out their arsenal -- it might be found here.

One thing I have learned over the years --

The price difference between an average reel with nicks, boat rash, brassing, rust, mechanical issues, worn drags, and other cosmetic damage -- is generally the same as a mint or near mint reel, after you are done fixing up the old reel.  And the old reel will not ever be as good as the mint reel.  With the prices of Penn, Newell, and other parts seeming to go through the roof with the popularity of these reels -- many times a near mint reel will actually be cheaper than fixing up an old one.

These are investments for both your fishing and your love of collecting.

Whether you need a complete reel, sideplates, frame, handle, rods, lures, historical items -- if it relates to vintage tackle -- Randy probably has what you want.  Or he will know where you might go to obtain the item you want.

These are very fair prices -- and these mint examples are quickly drying up.  It will be hard to find them in this condition a few years from now -- at any price, let alone fair pricing from one of our members who has scoured the globe to bring these examples to us -- and is a knowledgeable expert who enjoys the tackle craft as much as we all do.

I will be helping Randy and his wife at the show this year -- so if there is anything you might need or have a question about -- let us know.

Best,

Fred

Hi Tim --

Better than excellent -- possibly used once -- or unused.

If you want one or both of these -- let me know as soon as possible -- the show started 55 minutes ago -- and will run through Sunday.  But if you want these Newells, your word is good enough for us -- and we will put them aside immediately.

FRED HALL OUTDOOR SHOW, LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- 2015

For decades -- One of the largest shows of its kind -- in the world.

Day 2 of 5

Show starts today at 1:00 PM PST -- runs through 9:00 this evening.

Randy Pauly of Vintage Offshore Tackle, has extended his special show pricing to include the worldwide members of the Alan Tani Reel Repair Board.

What this means, is that our members will get the same discounted prices as the folks at the show.

I will be helping Randy and his wife a little this year -- so if there is anything you might want or need at a special price -- I might have a little more time available than Randy.

And sometimes it is helpful to have an experienced someone with "eyes on" physically -- to help you in your selection.

You can contact me at 559-374-1108, for any information, or if we can be of service to you.

If you decide on an item or two -- we will gladly put it aside with your name and information -- then send it out to you the first of the week after the show.

And...Thanks to everyone from our Board who bought items yesterday -- there is literally more than a ton of rare, tough to find, vintage items ranging from reels, rods, sideplates, frames, spools, parts, components, lures, memorbilia -- as well as just great examples of the white bread stuff we all like, such as Jigmasters, Squidders, senators, Newells, Shimanos, etc., etc..  All in very good to excellent to near mint, to NIB.

As most of you already realize -- there are only a few types of collectors and fisherman who appreciate this level of quality and attention to detail.  And most of these special folks are Alan Tani members.

Nearly Unbelievable!

Best Regards,

Fred

G,day Fred,
Can you post some pics of the stalls and show in general so we in Australia can have a bit of a drool. We never get anything like that here.   Thanks, Dirk
Why is everything i love either illegal, immoral or carry's a health warning!

foakes

Will do, Dirk -- Stay tuned.

With over 600 major exhibitors, 5 day event, 10 - 11 hours each day, 12,000 to 15,000 attendees each day -- and Randy being the only Vintage Fishing Tackle operation represented at the show -- we had little time or energy to canvas the show.

We should say -- any and every company of any importance to our fishing industry -- was represented there.

This includes manufacturers, charters, rods, reels, every kind of tackle, every kind of boat, tackle shops, custom upgrade shops, vehicles, trucks, campers, RVs, off road equipment, and any gear ranging from HD salt, offshore, fresh water, fly, long range, local -- in any price category from  folks starting out to the seasoned professionals.  It is all here.

And everyone spoke the same language -- fishing and outdoors.  Every exhibitor is a knowledgeable expert in their specialty -- no Pilgrims here -- just the best of the best.

There were free seminars every hour for the entire show.

This is a great place to take your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, family, buddies, and kids.  Plenty for the wife, daughter, and everyone to do and see.  Not just gear -- clothing, accessories, electronics, everything relating to the outdoors we all love.

Lots of free stuff and promotions going on.

This is believed to be the largest and most significant show of its type in the world -- and has been going strong for 69 years -- with increases in attendance of 10 to 20% each year -- even during the recession we experienced around 2009 & 2010 -- there was a 20% attendance increase.

I will post some pics and commentary in the photos section in a little while.

A special Thanks to all of the Alan Tani members who came by the booth to say hi and introduce themselves -- everyone bought something.  And another special thanks to the folks who could not attend from our site -- but who inquired about items they were interested in -- and purchased on line.

A lot to try and process -- however, I will attempt to give a brief report of the show with some pics in the photo section on our site -- I will try to stay concise, and informative.

Best Regards,

Fred

BTW -- I was giving some thought to the problems and expense incurred when shipping parts and equipment to Australia and NZ.  It may be useful to think of a way to have a central shipping point here in the States -- along with another central receiving place in Aus & NZ.

Could run along the lines of having any items shipped to one location here in the US -- then shipped at a lower flat rate to a location down under -- which in turn would re-ship in country to each address when a large shipment is received -- say every 2 weeks or so.  I am not sure exactly how this would work the best -- but we should find a way to help our Alan Tani brothers in Aus & NZ get things easier, and at a lower shipping rate.

I wonder if there could be the same for Europe?
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Randy,
Sent you a PM.  Once things settle down, can you please lmk if you have any purple 6/0 accuplates, possibly a purple accurate handle assembly to match, a red frame for a 500, a black or black/purple 505 frame/spool/handle assembly, and/or what might be available for complete working accuratized 505HS reels.

Just wondering what options might be out there to complete a few of my builds.

Take your time, sounds like you have had a busy month.

Thanks!

John

Hello Randy,
Did the 7X sell ??
John

John, the 7X did not sell.  It belongs to a friend of mine who helped out in the booth all week.  I will send you a PM with his name and email address so that you can deal directly with him.

Thanks,

Randy

John, my head is still spinning from the sensory overload.  It was a great show, due in no small part to Fred's efforts and my friends who have been helping me run the booth for the past nine years.

I do have two sets of the purple 6/0 Accuplates.  One is in very nice used condition and the other set is new.  I do not think that I have a purple 6/0 handle.  I believe that I have complete 505/506HS kits in red and gold and I might have black.  I black 505HS Accuframe, spool and handle but I do not think that I have purple.  If you can give me a week, I will have the trailer unloaded and everything unpacked and can tell you exactly what I have and you can tell me what will work for you and I will send you some prices and photos.

Thanks,

Randy

Randy what an awsome line up of reels. I'm eyeing one of those TLD's. I'll let you know.

Bob

Thanks Bob.  I'm sorry for the delay in responding.  We moved a lot of reels but I still have the TLD30 with the Willfish aluminum frame and a really nice power handle, and I think that I still have a NIB stock TLD 20 2-speed as well.  Please let me know if you are still interested.
