Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

voted silver, but black fits almost every application.

Thanks Alan.
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

I would like to suggest an anodizing grade:  Type III
More specifically : MIL-A-8625, Type III - 2.0 mils.

This means it will have to be grey- black ( type III cannot be dyed bright colors).   As a side note, the more colorful and shiny the finish is, the less protection is usually provided.

Type III is significantly more scratch  and corrosion resistant.   Which is important if the customer  does not  frequently strip off the line and rinse the spool.   At any rate, if you go with a colored spool, it would be worthwhile to see how thick an anodized layer you  can get.

The older penn aluminum spools have a finish that looks like type III.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was a thick layer.  Does seem to  be tougher than the shiny black spools they ship now.

You can get them right here:

That is true, but I want to check if I can beat that price.

And Tiburon "are no longer able to process orders from outside the USA"
It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

Did this ever get up and running?
I will check with my resourcer. It is on our to do list.

Very interested in this one as well. I also like jurelometer's suggestion in the Type 3 anodising. The grey/black colour makes no difference to me.

If these run will they be lighter than the Tiburon spools?

I will have to check when I get a sample made from my resource.

Here is the drawing, and a sample will be made for testing the fitting.
