Here is an almost start to finish build on the new box.

Purchase of African mahogany

Cut to size

Glue up of the four sided case with box joints

I don’t know about a village, but it does take a lot of clamps

Close up of raw box joints

Case flush trimmed

Gluing up the back to the case

Box glued up with front and back faces flush trimmed

Top cut and sanded flush

Lockable stainless steel front hasps installed

Now the box joints look smooth and pretty

Stainless steel piano hinge installed

Three Plano 3700 trays snugly fit inside

Handle before and after bandsaw and spindle sander

After routing a roundover profile

Handle sanded well and attached to the box with waterproof glue and stainless steel screws.

Screws are reinforced with 1.25” stainless washers.

Spar varnish coat 1

Beautiful shop!  And outstanding work, my box is one of my prized possessions...I haven't fished it yet because it is sitting in my case...I need to just take it....maybe someday...

These are so outstanding...Mark, i still want one (we had discussed a ways back). I'm still deciding what i will do with it...tackle or carriage for my custom builds. What are the dimensions of this box, and could it be mortised inside for two removable dividers to carry reels or 3700's?
