I'd like a couple of the 98-505 - are you taking orders yet?
Thanks
Mike
It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

Sid, a 98-500 is a gear sleeve for a 500 & 501 Jigmaster & 112H. A 98-505 is for a 505 & 506 Jigmaster.    Rudy

Will they be fine thread or coarse thread with regard to the drag star?
Give a man a fish and he will have fish for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

either sleeve will fit the 500/501 or 505/506 reels. my guess is the 98-500 is coarse tooth, and 98-505 is fine tooth. btw, nice items, i'll have to have me some too ;D

That's what I thought about the 98-505, that it was the fine thread. And, the 500/501/505/506 reels all took the same size gear sleeves, in fine or coarse thread depending on the drag star. But, wasn't the old part number 98-60AT for the coarse thread? Oh well, Alan C. will clarify.

You are correct fishmeluck, the 98-60 has coarse threads and the 98-505 has fine threads.
Not to create confusion, Alan C. should change the 98-500 to 98-60.
This is a custom part, he would get away with it, but, it is a good idea to keep it as Penn lists it.

One think he should do is to have letters or numbers after the part ...let's say 98-60.

At the moment there is:
98-60.......Penn
98-60AT...Alan Tani

Alan Chui should have his
98-60AC, or 98-60-10T, this would make finding what you're looking for much easier.
Alan probably already has a code for his part...we'll see.

Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Hi,

Sorry about the confusion, I have changed the part number. It should be 98-505PC (fine thread) and 98-60PC (coarse thread).

By the way, my resource (not Sal) tested these parts in the factory, and he told me that if these parts are used in with the double dog bridge, it will change those dogs engagement to alternate.

I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

Wow!  This will work fine on the stock, single dog bridge, right?

And I agree with Sid that and SS 98-155 would be a great idea, too.

It will work on both bridges. For the 98-155, I will let Tom takes care of that. I think that he is working on it, and it will be available in 2 weeks on his site. Please check with Tom.

Rudy, Penn Parts doesn't list a 98-500 sleeve. Is that a number that was made up here? How does this differ from the 98-60 coarse- and  98-505 fine-threaded SS sleeves that were already available? Is it about the number of ratchet teeth?

Thanks.
