I got a used 235F Blackie off eBay for a decent price.  With it came some of the owners original paperwork.  One piece was a 1993 receipt from Newell Co. where the owner sent the reel in for service:  "235F replaced fiber drag washers, bearings, belville washer, drag spacer, main gear, right and left side plates, clicker assembly and logos.   Cost...............

$20 + $4.50 shipping and C.O.D charge.

Anyone got a time machine??

Haha no kidding right!?! That list of repairs for $25 basically replaced what....over 50% of the whole reel! These days you'd be lucky to find just a clicker assembly for that. I'm sure Carl would be very happy about people still being excited about his reels, but might scratch his head at the prices some are going for, especially the sneaky frankensteined examples pieced together which don't actually work all that well.

I'm getting $30+SH for CF Drag Washer replacement with reel cleaning. Maybe a Penn Beville Washer if I'm in a good mood.

I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
