I just got a test result from Sal for this gear set. It tested in 112H and JigMaster 500/501. The max drag is 22# with Brian's drag washers stack.

By the way, these were pushed past 30 lbs, for testing purpose only and still looked good.

should do just fine at around 20 lbs.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Is the PRO Challenger web site current on these parts?  The gears that I see for the 112H/500/501 are "PC-JM500N", 5:1 gear ratio, $54.99.

That is correct.

On this page the new part is described as 4.8:1, $52.99.  I'm not worried about the price difference, just wanting to make sure to order the right thing.  It would also be interesting to know the true gear ratio.  Thanks.

That is correct. The price is $59.99 + shipping. It is 4.8:1, but I tried to keep it the rounding method that other companies had been using.

This item is back in stock, but I have 15 sets only. Smooth Drag, PennParts LLC and Brian's Fishing Supply will have it in stock as well.

Thanks,
