I'm replacing the stock drag washers on a friends 2010 Saltiga 5000H and ordered what I believe to be the correct set. After my first attempt at reinstalling the lock ring that holds the ratchet cup in place over the drag stack, I realized that the overall height had increased to the point where the lip of the ratchet cup was now covering the lock ring notch. I pulled everything out and mic'd the washers and found that the set I had bought was almost twice the thickness. Did I get the wrong washers, or is there a different set that I should have ordered? Thanks in advance!

Stock vs new

ReelClean

Yep, new ones look like 1.0mm,  old ones about .5-.6mm.  I can't recall what stock is, I would have thought about .7mm.
Can you sub one of the old ones for new and make it fit?

I tried, still no go. The stock washer is 0.54, the Carbontex is 0.98...

As stated the stock washers are close to 0.5mm and thats what should have been in the package. It was just a mistake.

Call me.  The schematic shows the part # for the 1mm washers...apparently not so.

Just got off the phone with Dawn. Got another set of washers on the way! Thank you, Dawn, for the fast and friendly service!

Seasons Greetings everybody!

I'm so glad I found this thread as I think it may explain an issue I'm having with a set of washers for an '09 Z6500 Dogfight. I bought a couple of sets of Smooth washers from a UK supplier (a reel maintenance guy with an excellent reputation) and we were both surprised that the stack would no longer fit with the new washers installed. Having read this thread I think I may now have the answer... I've sent Dawn a pm to see if we can fix the problem.

Have a great holiday!

Cheers

Dave

Ive never seen any newer Daiwa with thick drag washers. Most all have been 0.5mm.

Yeah, I was upgrading the drag on an old z4500 just recently.

I found I had two different sets under the same label, identical in measurements except for thickness.
(I am always struggling for room so I put multiple sets in the same packet).
One was a set of three about 1mm in thickens and another about half as thick in a set of four.

The Z took the three of the thick ones but I was curious as to whether I had catalogued the other set incorrectly.

In any case I  listed a variety in my last order to cover my bases.

This is how I have them listed...by checking schematics with part numbers.  Apparently there might be something not right for a couple of reels on the thickness.  The Saltiga washers are about .65.  The Saltist washers are 1mm.  They are the same inside and outside diameter.
