If of interest to anyone planning to hit the tropics this winter...
This guy is a friend of a friend and, while I've not had the privilege of visiting Guatemala, a trip to Sailfish Lodge is now on the bucket list  ;)

Thanks Justin

bucket list X2

BradH

Thanks for the heads up. I'm headed down there for work for a couple weeks and know I have one day free.  Would really like to get on the water.

Let us know how you get on Brad - good luck!

Only had one free day and didn't get out.  Big boat charters on the pacific side run 1200-1600 or so US, more than I wanted to (or could!) spend on my own. Even the locals in pangas charge 600-800...they have this figured out.

Next time I go back down I'll try harder to get something together. Sailfish are the prime target but I'd like to try rooster fish or something else inshore. Unfortunately is hard to find anyone willing to do this.

Couple guys want to get in on it too so maybe we can get a big boat trip together.

If it's Sailfish you want head to Zihuatanejo and catch all you want on live bait for a fraction of the price $1200-$1600 for Sailfish is insanity and the Panga prices as listed are nuts.

Sails are dead easy to catch and while often acrobatic don't fight all that hard or long.

BradH

Guess I should have said that better...

Sails are the prime target of charters down there...not my target though.

I want to get on roosters or something else.

redsetta

Jeez that's pricey!
Sorry to hear it didn't work out as hoped.
Good luck finding a hefty roster on the next trip!
