Graphite lubricant

I'm thinking about trying some graphite lubricant on stainless steel gears.
The reason being that it stays good on metal, lowers friction, mixes well with oil/grease.

Before I do that, do you guys know or can think of any cons or problems?

Here's what I know about graphite:

Graphite –The mineral Graphite is a crystalline form of Carbon. Graphite lubricant (powder) is made from super-finely ground graphite pieces or chunks. Graphite powder will absorb moisture and clump, basically returning to its pre-ground form (little rocks). It is for this reason that you should never use graphite in fishing reel bearings (or in any other precision mechanism.) I learned about graphite from a well-experienced and educated locksmith while working part-time for him.

I don't use it in any part of anything that might get wet or damp.

the answer would be the same as above, but which reels are you looking at?

Good point about graphite absorbing water and clumping. I was going to try it on Accurate, but now I might reconsider, lol. Thanks!

for an all purpose grease, i would stick with yamaha marine.  cal's grease is fine on drag washers, but i've seen it harden on older reels.
