Type C (6/0 and 9/0) Handle Arm Question

I know several people have asked about handle arms for 114 and 115 reels but the 15-5 material I bought is too thin for the Type C handle arm.  I can make a keyed spacer to go under the arm, would that be a problem?

Material is going to the cutter next week, I will cut 2 of these for my own reels and 2 in case someone decides they want one.
