Hi.

The LW is a PIA on these but they are mostly basic Penn design.  Do a serch and I think there is a tutorial on them, 9, 209 and 309 are all similar.

yeah, not the best one to start on.  when you try to get the levelwind assembly put together, use a rubberband to hold the reel together while you wiggle everything into place.    and welcome!!!!
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

First time I took one of those LW's apart...there was much swearing upon trying to put it back together.

Just take it slow. The pics in the guide really help with positioning.

This works.  Be careful everything is inplace before tightening screws, the tailplates will easily crack (ask me how I know).

Hides Ho Neighbor.....if you can do that 209 then the rest are a cake walk.....Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Welcome aboard slow and low that's how you get through a level wind.

Shark Hunter

The 209 isn't that bad.
My biggest problem was adjusting the level wind mechanism.
Welcome.

One more question. Where is the best place to buy parts. It needs clutches and a spare pawl. I tink this will put it in shape to fish with.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.
