Shark Hunter

You grilled those up right John.
It has been a long time since I had fresh trout from a stream.
I would just gut them, soak in some salt and cook them up.
Pick around anything else left including the head.
Great eating right there.
This is the only fish that I leave the head on.
It reminds me of a funny story I don't know if I have told or not.
When I was 16, My Uncle flew me to Colorado where he was living at the time.
He worked for the Airlines all his life, so the flight was free.
He taught me everything I know about fishing when I was a youngster.
We hiked into the mountains to catch some fish.
The water was so cold, it would freeze you if you stayed in for too long.
We caught some nice brook trout. Probably a dozen at least 10" long.
Stayed until after dark which was a no no, because there are bears.
We made it back to the truck, made it home, cleaned the fish.
Then cooked them up in a pan on the stove.
It was the middle of the night when we finished dinner.
His life long friend, Merv was there. I never liked him, just because he was so unfriendly. Just a grouchy old man.
We finished the meal that was so delicious.
Looking around, the heads were not on Merv's plate.
I asked him, where are the fish heads Merv?
He said ,"what fish heads?"
He had been drinking so heavily, he ate the heads and all.
He hadn't been on the excursion to catch them, so I called it a fitting end. ;)
I'll never forget that. How drunk do you have to be to eat multiple fish heads and not realize it?
He only drank whiskey and ice water separately, You have to be a hard core drinker to consume that.
It intensifies the flavor of the whisky. Maybe if it was good whiskey, I could have drank it straight, but it was usually Canadian Club.
A cheap Canadian Blend I cannot stand.
Enjoy those fish heads Merv. ;)
Life is Good!
