I recently found out that there are these greases on market, not often and widely offered, but they exist.
They are just thick enough not to be able to run of, flow, and as such, in my opinion perfect for use in reels..

to fill up the reel casing with them..
if someone knows if there is yamalube in that gradation, NLGI
I would like to hear from him
and even if there is no yamalube - marine grease like that, why aren't we all using this wonderful greases by now, for reels
thx

ahaa, thx, just checking it out
there are many sorts, is there any specific one to be singled out?

LOL, pardon me, just now I`ve seen that "real" grease

thx
glos, you don't fill up the casing just give everything inside a light coating of grease with a brush. More is not always better.              Rudy

I think it is rudy
I am talking to some people on fisfing forum here in serbia now, mentioning them this type of grease, and there are few really knowledgeable ones confirming that they have great experiences with that grease.
No one mentioned 00 NLGI by now, so they had no chance to confirm
but now that I did, they came out, with a smile.

one important notice
that "EP" stands for extreme pressure and is of importance, because such greases can withstand from - 30 up to + 115 Celsius
like the one I have does

Nearly any quality grease one uses will be more than adequate -- providing it is Salt resistant, synthetic, sticks in place, and does not bind up the moving parts tightly -- if allowed to sit for a year or two.

The 3 main things I look for in grease, are --

Marine Grade -- salt resistant
Sticks where you apply it until next service
Easy and quick washout with lacquer thinner when servicing

And also, value -- I cannot justify paying high prices for a small container of magic lube -- got to buy in bulk, or I would have to charge too much to clients..

I am afraid I wasn`t clear enough when describing the properties and meaning of that NLGI 00

it is almost a viscosity of oil, but not quite
so it moves, re-lubes, but still it can not get out thru crevices..

fred, once you try it, you`ll never go back
but it requires to be filed in bulk, almost filing the reel casing with it

and once you do that, it becomes whole another dimension of protection and lubrication

mine lithium one costed me 5 € for 30 ozs

00 and 000 grease is used in transport and industrial applications like truck drive hubs.  I have used it in recirculating ball steering box where 80W90 used to leak out over time.  Great lubrication, the leak slowed but didn't stop completely, so I suspect that used in a reel it would eventually cause a bit of a mess especially if subjected to a bit of warmth.

ahaa, good info
but I think reel doesn't produce no where near those type of pressures and temperatures as vehicles components do,
and also, I have noticed that the grease pulls on it self, slightly, which reassures me it will not fail in the reel
but still, good thoughts on the subject

I have done some reading and come up with what is especially gearcase lube.

do tell
btw, on my remark in one forum, that you ( you beeing refered as "some user" ) told and recommended "some" NLGI 0 grease ( and than posted a link to that real grease ) one guy said he would do it like that too
he says 00 he used in one old reel started leaking slightly
but I think it is due to way to much space in old reels, between parts

Pro Reel

While I would not fill a reel up with thin grease, I do use the 0 viscosity super lube in greased bearings. I found that traditional #2 viscosity grease in bearings on the smaller freshwater reels made them a little sluggish. Oiling those frame bearings made them spin to easy. I now use #0 viscosity grease for greased bearings and have had great results.

aaa, I have just seen your post on stripers online
so it`s called gearcase lube, good to know ( and now I found yamalube that is gearcase lube  :D 8))

they have banned me so I get no notifications about posts

@ pro reel, then take gearcase lube with NLGI 00 and do fill up the reel casing, it is the ultimate way

NLGI 00 is not so good, too leaky
NLGI 0 is probably better
I`ve just tried that 00 grease on my new 3 okuma surf 8k-s
and it is all over - the outside of the reel, probably due to reel having some extra crevices in design, all over.
Some caps, plastic , that are pushed in the side like LEGO.
Some really sealed reels would benefit from it.
