cocoa beach area

Ill be spending a week just south of Cocoa Beach, Fl soon and Im looking for any recommendations for gear, lures, locations, etc.  Ill be fishing both the Banana River and some near shore stuff on the Atlantic side.  I plan on doing most of my fishing from a kayak.

My step father goes there quit often and fishes live bait from the pier, he tends to do well that way. He got a couple big black drums not to long ago.
