I just scored a nice 722Z for $20+ $5 shipping...not bad.

The reel is in grate shape, but the handle knob snapped off at some point

I know I could purchase these for a couple of dollars, but decided to make one myself.
I remembered I had some Corian samples, so decided to use those

Easy stuff to work with and very durable

I drilled the broken shaft at slow speed and the tip worked itself out, as they usually do

Installed the shaft

and here is how it looks on the reel, I like it

Best,

Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Sal...that knob is too cool! And $25 for that reel? Great buy! 8)

That's a great idea for a knob, and a good deal on the reel, as well !

Thanks guys!
I could have purchased a new knob for $2, but making one from scratch gives you a better accomplishment ;D.

It came out really nice Sal.  The rest of that reel is unlikely to have survived in such good shape and cost so little if the knob hadn't broken off.  Funny how it that works.

Very clever and skillful, Sal --

If you ever want a NOS crank knob for that 722  --  just let me know and it will be done.

Otherwise, your next project is to take a chunk of the green speckled Corian -- and make a matching drag brake knob.

Good work!
