"Taping" a spool ?

The pressure on the spool with braid is nothing to worry about - just get that braid on tight (8-10lb). The situation with mono, or any very elastic line, is a different kettle of fish! Spool tightly with mono and you can bust the spool. Successive layers of mono apply more and more pressure (if applied to tightly).
I remember reading about the phenomenal pressure that can build up due to the elastic qualities of mono. All I ever do is apply enough drag to take the slack out of the mono.
