So I found a reel in my closet that I didnt even realize I had any longer..its seen almost no use. Of course I managed to screw something up as usual. I was trying to treat all the spots that need corrosion protection..line roller,etc.. Anyway, I decided to open the bail cover to see why it wasnt functioning 100%. So there is a tiny piece with a spring, and a hook shaped piece going into it. It slipped out of place while I was looking at it..where it is now, I have no idea, spring pressure, zoom across room somewhere, hrs of searching yielded no results. I cannot seem to find a schematic for this particular Sahara but I see that setup was used on This Shimano Sahara SH4000FB.. Lever Spring Guide (A part # 4653   http://fish.shimano.com/content/dam/shimanoweb/fish/sac-fish/en/techdocs/current-models--2-1/SAHARA/SH4000FB...  In any case, the reel seems to function fine with out that piece in it,so what does it do? Any chance I can get this part from Shimano? putting in it I wont ask about yet,,I will wait to see if I can get it first off.

Think we're talking about the automatic bail return. If you manually close your bail like you're supposed to do, don't need it.
The rail is your friend, no zing pow, on the iron wenches, I like broccoli!

here's a better place for older schematics: http://www.reelschematic.com/reel-schematics/shimano-reel-schematics/#gsc.tab=0

here's the correct one: http://www.reelschematic.com/wp-content/uploads/schematics/Shimano/Sahara/SHIMANO%20SAHARA%20SH4000FA(2003).pdf

do you mean: Bail Spring Guide (A) -- part# RD 6353 ???

w/out that part, you can't have ANY bail return -- automatic OR manual

BTW, Sahara FA could use an upgrade to a BB line roller...  esp., if you can get it all in one shipment

It's # 4654...the hook shaped piece that goes into the piece housing the spring.

It closes both ways even without the piece

Without it does it keep the bail arm up straight and tight?
