Insanely easy crock pot meal for those of us lucky enough to get, or have relatives that get, deer meat.  Most of the deer we get ends up being corn fed, so it is not game-y at all.  With that in mind we do not soak our deer prior to eating it, whether it be backstraps, loins, roasts or ground meat.

This takes about 3 1/2 - 4 hours depending on your roast size and how you like your deer.  A lot of this depends on personal preference too, but this is how we do it...

One pack Onion Soup Mix
One 1 to 2 Pound Venison Roast
5 garden sized carrots - cut into small to medium chuncks
4 large potatoes - cut into small to medium chunks
3 cups of water

1) Set crock pot to HIGH setting
2) Chop up Carrots and Potatoes and added to crock pot
3) Sprinkle half of soup mix over potatoes and carrots
4) Place thawed roast in center of crockpot
5) Sprinkle remainder of mix over roast
6) Added 3 Cups of water over roast, potatoes and carrots
7) Leave the lid on for 3 1/2 to 4 hours
8) Remove and eat!

So darn good!  I should have taken a photo, but we'll have it again soon so I'll snap a picture then.

Yum....love the simplicity of a crock pot dinner...plus it smells so good when it's dinner time! I use pretty much the same method for elk roasts! Not corn fed here in AZ of course, but, as I tell my girls, about as healthy and lean meat as we can get! But, the crock pot all day sure helps to make them nice to eat, and not so tough....
I'll have to post up pics from my recent hunt soon....another year of great meat in the freezer😁 .

Boy, that does sound good Dan. Easy too!

A nice bowl of stew on a cold day is tough to beat. Great comfort food.

Heck yeah!
Great recipe for almost any cut of meat that benefits from long slow braising.
Tasty and oh so easy, perfect when ya want a hot-n-hearty dinner ready after a long day of hunting.

Yep, a pic would've really made the thread, look forward to one next time.  ;)
