Alto Mare

Recently received a 16/0 for some upgrades.

This one is really in excellent shape, I was debating wheater to do it or now

Broken down

will also get new gears and sleeve

double dogs of course

bearings all cleaned and packed

new Titanium handle blade and a new drag kit from Motive Fabrications

a little more work and it will be ready to be reassembled and on its way out to catch a fish of a lifetime.

Benni, get out there, you now have a competition ;D

Best,

Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Wow !!! That is nice !  Most I see that are reasonable are quite pricey...

Three se7ens

Someones gonna need a bigger boat  ;)

Shark Hunter

Very Nice Sal.
You are in your Element.
Even with all my Custom Reels and Everol's.
The 16/0 has a Special Place.
The Ultimate Upgrade will be coming soon. ;)

Nice work Sal, your dremel work on the plates is getting harder to pick from the factory molding.

Mike
It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

Tiddlerbasher

Great stuff Sal. Youll have to do a mini video of how to dremel the side plate.

Dominick

Sal, I know how you were torn about upgrading a nice 16/0.  I have one in primo condition that will remain stock.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Thanks guys, especially you Mike, you could appreciate hand work a little more.

Yup Dominick, I was having such a hard time with it that I told the owner to buy  a 14/0 plate to send it over to me... and he did ;D

He was happy that I recommended a 14/0 plate to save the very hard to find 16/0.
With that said, it is still a 16/0, but Benni has the matching numbers on his :)

This one will remain stock as well Minicuccio ;), I believe you two already met :)

Ok, back on the assembly of the 16/0 Shark Tank#2
bridge and dogs go in

drag insert next

you should end up with two custom metal keyed washers on top and the stock belleville washer

shield next

installing the large delrin washer right under the star will make it possible to move the star with one finger while up to 50lbs...no joke, try it!

and this one will be heading out to battle very soon.

Best,
Sal

Sal, where do you get that delrin for the top of the stack?

McMaster-Carr, I used to buy sheets from them and punch my own, but haven't in a while. let me check the drawer, if I see one I'll send it over.

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Salvatore-bel lavoro su quella bobina
I think I got that right :)

I'd never seen a 16/0 drag insert - hefty!
Fantastic work Sal.

Hi Sal, thanks for showing the 16/0, good photos, my largest reel is a 14/0, has a good free spool like the spool is well balanced, just wants to keep rolling around, I love it, thanks again Sal, cheers Don.
