The line up- greased 180, 140 with Newell bars and foot and a 140 with aluminum spool I picked up for $40. Ande BC 25# green on the way. The 160 is already on a 12' rod getting BC 30# for crabbing.

Nice reels.

Have you been to Gus' discount tackle on Balboa.  Well stocked made in China at good prices.

I love the place. Lots of rods for sale.

I have another aluminum spool coming for the 140. The 180 may get straight braid for perch. I'll have to see how it works out. I won't be going for distance with that one. I know there are aluminum spools for the 180 but apparently rare like hens teeth.

The 180 uses a 100 spool. Usually not to hard to find aluminum. That Newelled 140 will be a winner. Greased HT-100s and some SS goodies and you have a great 40# reel. Lots of line on that one. You've even got the right handle.

Doing some internet sleuthing before work, the 180 shares parts with the 209 and 146. I can swap gears to 3.2-1 and add Newell bars and bridge for a poor man's Squdder Jr.

Got an aluminum spool and 25# BC put on a 9' GX2. Great little casting set up. Only caught one smelt today
