I have a pair of Varmac RS6 reel seats with ferrule NOS!! . I wanted to know what rod butt I can attach to this seat. The RS6 is for a 130 size reel.

I been doing some rod repair and now I want to build my own rods.

Also any advice on a nice rod blank would be greatly appreciated.

I plan to (if the time ever comes) to put on mildrum roller guides if I can find some.

Thank you all in advance.

I think a size 6 Aftco would work. But if youre gonna do mildrums in the future I would have new wood butts made for them for the ultimate vintage look.

Just curious what rod tip you're using with that varmac. I have one and it's huge!

I was hoping to find a whole mildrum roller guide set including the tip, although I am aware it will be hard to find.

What tip do you have. Can you post a picture?

Sorry I just have that gigantic reels seat, Was thinking of building something with it but the only blanks I find thick enough are 10' long. Was wondering what blank you're using for the rod?

You also have a Varmac RS6 Reel seat?

I'm always scrounging for old rod components so I just buy them when I find them.Finding those varmacs in good shape is getting hard. Figure that stuff will come in handy someday or I'm just a hoarder, depends who you ask.

Ah crap then were in the same shoes. I don't know what I'm going to do for the blank then. will need some old vintage blank then.

So pretty much any modern blank will be too small.. I would like an IGFA 130 rod blank for this build.

The CalStar RT130 5'6" Blank is 1.08" butt diameter, 26 tip. Almost a perfect fit.
You wont find a blank, new or old, that will fit the ferrule perfectly. They are all arbored up in some fashion at the ferrule.
The 26 tip is perfect since the old Mildrum double roller tips are still easy to find in that size

I have at least a half dozen or more NOS Varmac RS6H seats, 3 NOS Lakeland 130lb class 9163M seats, and a box full of Mildrum guides that will be built into retro style rods at some point.

If it takes too long to find mildrum guides, ill have to take another route. I don't mind installing bigfoot AFTCO, but it would be my last option..

This seller has these but I dont know too much about them in regards to blanks
