So I opened up the reel cause it got submerged..turns out the sealing functions as it should..no signs of intrusion. I did not separate main and pinion,,but yet the reel does not turn as easily as before I took it down. Sluggish feel, but is still smooth,,just takes a bit more to turn it. Anyone have any idea how this is possible?

generally, Shimano gear shims don't like their lot in life & try to escape  ::)
they tend to stick to lube & slide off at most inopportune moments
did you pay close attention to their location & number (may be different from schematic)?

otherwise, maybe water got into gear bearing(s)...
i.e., past the outer seal/shield into the bearing,
but not past the inner seal/shield into the gearbox

The shims were on the main gear like every other reel I've been inside...I did try removing one,but you could immediately feel the misaligned gears. The reel was bone dry inside,no signs of water intrusion, like I said it was just more free spinning when I took it apart 15 mins earlier. It's just weird..I don't see how it changed.
