I am looking for an advice on cleaning carbontex washers in case they have been contaminated, either with oil/water or they
have turned sticky by the use of improber grease.

I've used carb-cleaner and blowed them dry before apply a clean coat of Cal's grease.

I think Jim had some experience with silicon lubricant migration into drag washers, and I believe he indicated that he could not get silicon lubricants out of the washers and had to replace them.

you might also just go in with an old rag and rub till you "raise the grain" and then regrease it.  that alone usually works.  alan

Actually I did that already, not out of knowledge, but out of need Wink.  Do you think lighter fuel will do any harm to the carbon fiber in case I use that??

Hi Guys,

Wanted to ask the same question hehehe.

I recently got new cabontex washers (Thanx Dawn and my AZBASS for the help) and
will be moving the old carbontex to another reel but the old carbonex I used another Drag grease
(Tica Drag Grease- green color and smelly comes in small cute containers).

Im planning to wipe off the grease and then soak them in Lighter Fluid for cleaning.

Will this be ok or is there a right way ?
What do you guys clean them with ?

Is kinda hard to get carbontex here on my part of the planet.

carb cleaner or brake cleaner would probably work better, but use lighter fluid if it's all you can get.

Hi Dawn,

Will be buying another pack of carbontex soon.

What pack can fit the Shimano Conquest 101 and the Shimano Scorpion DC7 Reels ?
