Did they use JIS head screws perchance?

Alto Mare

That would make sense, but I don't have one of those screwdrivers to test.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

The screwdriver I use on my Avets came from Klein Tools.  It was part of a set of small screwdrivers from Klein.

man, that is a great looking handle setup! Are there any more available like that? I just bought an hxj raptor to go on a custom grouper rod and a handle and blade like that would really complete the package.
And it took me a lot of searching to find my first avet knob philips bit.I can't remember now from whence it came , but I painted it bright orange so I can always locate it easily in my tool tray

Late? Yes I know, sorry. The Klein Phillips head that fits the screws to remove cap on the handle is a #0. Is it a perfect fit? Nope. There is some slop and I guess the screws Avet used are JIS. Not having any JIS drivers this is just a guess. The #1 is way to big and the #0 like I said is a bit sloppy.

I have used the #0 to remove several handle caps for the knobs on Avets, you just to have to be careful not to damage the screw when taking it out for the first time. I'm not sure but it seems like there is a type of thread lock or the plastic or rubber just grabs those screws tight. Every cap screw I have removed has something black on those screw threads.

Anyway here is a pic of the Klein driver I use and like stated it is included in a mini driver set. I thought I had one Klein driver that was in between the #0 and #1 but I can't locate it now and it is way too late to dig through all of my stuff. Also if Klein did make one in the past they sure don't make it now.

Good information is always appreciated , even if a little late.
Thanks Mark!

I don't make these for a living, I just like to help out when I can.
I usually make the shaft and knobs. It is a lot of work, but don't really charge for my time.
If interested send me a PM and I'll see what I could do.

I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as I cam , there are a few components to purchase to make a custom knob.
SS tube
SS rod  ( both need to be machined on my lathe and tapped for the screws)
SS screws and washers, if you like the oil port , you will need it as well, along with the screws... your choice.
A acrylic blank, about 1.5" x 1.5", a good section gets wasted as I shape the handle.
Lots of work buffing and drilling afterwards and at times it fails and need to start all over, but I have lots of patience.

My price for the custom knob is $60.
I'm not sure I could find another arm, I probably could, but will need to check.
Te cost of the arm and the shipping is not included, the installation would be, if you needed me to install it for you.

Sorry for the long reply, I wanted to point out the involvement it takes on these.
There are others that make them if you look online, but I'm not sure what they charge.

As I find easier way as I move along the cost would be adjusted, maybe I could bring it down a little in the future, but I'm noticing a little increase on the blanks from the time I started, about 2 years ago 😏

All my best,

Sal
