This is a great value on a HD spinner —

Van Staal VM275 — $329.99, free shipping, good company...

Just out of curiosity, what's the CA WARNING? Seems odd.

Sid,

in California, we have Proposition 65 - a label warning regarding:

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

This CA State agency tracks 900 chemicals that are known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Since I apparently have a reputation to uphold, I went to the page - the warning is for lead! Maybe there's a small amount in the (I presume) Titanium?

I don't own a Van Staal.

My son Mike has always wanted one.

Calls it his Dream reel.

Guess it is time. ;)

After reading Tony Hawks review on the VM275 and the peculiar views of the inside of the reel.
It looks just like a Cabo. Since they are made in the same factory. I say I already have a few Van Staal's.
They are just called Cabo's. I have a half dozen and I would bet good money, the main gears are exactly the same.
The Cabo's also have higher drag numbers and line capacity.
They are discontinued now, but I'm set on parts.
The price is a little less than the Van Staal, but not much.
VM 150 and 275 are already gone!
I was going to buy one.
