i was trying to service one for the first time tonight. A couple of questions...first off..Why doesnt this reel have a rotor brake like the 704?
Also,I wanted to take the pinion gear out,but I couldnt pull it out..it doesnt appear to be corroded at all...I tried screwing on the rotor nut to give me a bit of something to grab,,bu it wasnt moving,,and I was afraid of doing damage to threads.. What should I do?

Put the nut back on and put an adjustable wrench underneath. Give the wrench a few taps with a hammer to break it loose from the bearing.
Don't Go Crazy on it. If it doesn't come out with a tap or two. Keep tapping by alternating sides.
I've had good luck with this method.
I always have to do this to get to that bearing and make sure it is lubricated.

After removing the bearing retainer (part 21a). Apply heat to the bearing area with a heat gun. The frame holding the bearing in expands. Put the nut back on the pinion gear, grab the nut with smooth jaw pliers  and you should be able to remove the bearing and pinion gear.
