I just got this Garcia Mitchell 300 (foot #4114753) from what I gather on Mitchell Reel Museum it looks to be a version 6? Their site is locked now so I couldn't post there.Any insight will be appreciated !

It does, indeed, look like a 6th.  They were made from '58 to '68.  It's not a 5th because it has "Garcia" engraved on the side plate, and it's not a 7th, which had a straight AR lever.  Looks like a nice 'un.

I would guess around 1964 give or take a year or so either way.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Also, this is my first vintage mitchell and was curious as to how smooth it should be? I lubed it and I realize with the design of the A/R it would never be as smooth as my new 310 with 8 BB which I love.I look forward to catching anything with it ! I just figured it was the difference in the 60s reel technology but after taking it apart looks like the old one could last forever, I was born in 1963 so this reel is really neat to fish with ! I paired it with a fenwick eagle and has a great feel.

Yeah, that reel is almost your exact age.  I may have some other spinning reels that would be stronger & involve less maintenance than the 300, but as far as how the reel feels in hand, on a rod and with a fish on, I don't know if I prefer anything else.

Don't short-change a reel just because it "talks" to you.

My sweetheart baits her own hook, takes her own fish off unless it's a big northern or musky and asks for a little help, and nets my fish, too.  8) She enjoys night fishing, especially when it's close to a full moon, and usually want's to stay out a little while longer when I'm ready to call it a day. I'm pretty fortunate, she's one in a million, or ten!  :-*

I've always questioned the precise accuracy of the serial number production date lists that are referenced given the huge gaps from one year to the next. 10, 40, 50 & even up to close to 100 thousand differential has never made a lot of sense to me, mainly because the spread varies so much from year to year.   :-\  It is obviously not an exact science. More or less just a guesstimate.  ;)
