Hi Alan,
Thanks for the great site and thorough explanations.
I just purchased a new Ambassadeur 5601 C4. Before I load it and us it for the first time, is there any preventative maintenance you'd recommend?
Thanks,
Jay

you should already have dry carbon fiber drag washers inside the gear. add another one underneath the main gear, then grease all of the drag washers with cal's drag grease. open up the bearings

Alan, thanks for the quick reply. I have a few other relatively new (2-3 years old) 5 and 6000 series reels. Is it safe to assume they all share the same drag washers and bearings? I'd rather just place a bulk order if I'm going to be maintaining them regularly.
Thanks again,
Jay

go to the schematics section and find ambassaduer. then track down your schematic with the reel foot #. that will give you your answer. alan
