currently trying to decide on a moderately priced 80-130 stand up rod. The V series appears to have the backbone im looking for without the sticker shock. does anyone have an opinion on these? targeting large sharks from boat.

The only V series rod from Penn I see on the net in that test range is around $450. Kinda high in price IMO for a all glass rod. Do you really need the aluminum butt section? That alone adds $ to the cost of any rod. For our west coast big game fishing here most people use either Calstar or Seeker rods, if you can check them out. Big game fishermen have been using them for large Mako, Thresher and cow sized tuna for a very long time and their priced right also.
