Hi All,
I have a couple of TLD 10's I somehow managed to acquire to fish 6kg Mono for Baby Blacks on their way to me. Cheesy Both look to be in good shape but in need of a handle upgrade (sorted), Carbontex, service and some cosmetic care.  The frames themselves just need a good clean and some Ballistol to rejuvenate them and the screws look to be in generally good shape but I have some reservations about the state of the drag Quadrants.  So, the question is are there parts still available for these reels? And if not is there perhaps interchangability with the Charter Special series of reels in terms of the drag quadrants?  I guess in the end it doesn't really matter if there isn't but it would be nice to get them back to as good a condition as I can.
Cheers,
John.

G'day John,
The TLDs are great light-tackle reels - I have several.
The 10 and 15 share many common parts, including the quadrant.
Schematics here, 10:http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/schematics/albums/shimano/Shimano_TLD_10__87.pdf
And 15: http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/schematics/albums/shimano/Shimano_TLD_15__87.pdf
The part numbers changed in later schematics, but they remain interchangeable.
The current part number for the quadrant is TLD 0191.
You can upgrade your 10 for a bit more stopping power thus: http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=3999.0
Alan's excellent tutorial on the 15 is here: http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=41.15
Any queries, let us know.
Good luck, Justin

Justin,
Thanks for the great info, the TLD15 part nos. threw me when I looked it's great to know they are interchangeable.  Alans' TLD15 article is how I first came across the site. I did the bellevilles' in the 15's but I won't be in the 10's as I am going to be fishing 6kg exclusively with them and will be looking for smoothness in low drag ranges of 1-4kg. I originally brought a pair of Tyrnos 10II's for the job but the drag cam curve is just to aggressive to use with light mono so they are now spooled with 30lb Braid for general pelagic duties.  Once again thanks for the reply.
Cheers,
   John.

Hi Alan,
I must admit the first Trolling reel I ever owned was a 1000 Charter Special and I absolutely loved it.  The only reason I don't still own one is because of the level wind and a love of open topped reels.  If for some reason the 10's don't work out how much would the frames be shipped to Australia?
