Anyone Ever See A GRAPHITE 440SS - NOT A 4400SS ???

I thought all of the 440SS reels were metal-bodied, 2nd generations and that the 4400SS is the Graphite-bodied,  3rd generation . . . BUT !!!

I have a bunch of 450SS in matal, but never seen a 440SS.
I pulled out one of my special catalog on the SS models, no mention of the 440SS anywhere. This catalog goes back to the beginning of these reels.

I know that Scott's is showing a pic of the 440SS, but the pic is not clear and still desn't prove it to me, I could get a cover plate from a 440SS graphite and put in on the 450SS.  I'm not sure if these do exist :-\
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Dang Sal, I want one of everything on that catalog! I think have all but the Mariner and 440. I still don't know why Penn quit on downriggers; I will never get rid of mine as long as I can get parts and the new cannon's just ain't it. sold ' em.

210M and 10 Mags highly underrated reels. just my .02

As I understand it, 1986 or 1987 is the first year for the 440SS model . . . That's right at the time they were changing from the metal bodies and rotors to the Graphite ones on the smaller Penn Spinfishers (everything smaller than a 650SS / 6500SS ).

I wonder if any metal body 440SS reels were made, or if they were all graphite ? That one pic sure looks like a metal body to me, though .

I'm not sure if it was 1986-1987, but it is close.  My catalog is marked 1984, which means those came out around 1983.

>>>sorry, I just noticed  you meant graphite.

From what we've posted, if not even one gets flushed out, they don't exist ;D

I don't want to bunch those up here on Dave's thread.
