Hi Alan,
Have you formed any opinion on the Avet Raptors? I am sure lots of people would like to hear from you on this.
Thanks,
Jim

believe me, it's on my list of reels to look at.

avet has ignored me for quite a while.  they do not grease their drag washers and have the same bearing issues as everyone else.  i think what really got them was the low drag range of their smaller reels.  that why the raptor line finally came out.  it was closer in performance (and price) to the accurates.  with their higher drag ranges, i think they are ready to go toe to toe with accurate, but i would really like to go through all of their reels in a systematic way, not just haphazardly.  they, and accurate, deserve better than that.  in all fairness to daiwa and their saltist lever drag, the next reel that i want to go through is the shimano talica!

I can't wait to read the Talica review... That may be my next 'high-end' reel...
