We use CFs under the gear with a little Cal's drag grease.

I use 6-113 inbetween the 2
I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

So I had a chance to work on one my G344's again last night.  I believe I found the perfect combination for the way I like my drag to work.  This reel does have the drag spacer attached to the drag star.

I used the Carbontex washers including the thrust washer.  I took out the Newell belleville washer and then I used two of the 18-505 belleville washers.  The drag has plenty of adjustment and can lockdown tight now without bottoming out.  After removing the thin belleville by the handle I can back the drag all the way off too.

I am going to test on one of my other G344's tonight.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

I worked on two more of my G344's which also have the drag spacer attached to the drag star.  I used the same setup carbontex and two of the 18-505 belleville washers.  Both of these came out perfect as well.  I finally found the right combination for these reels.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

That thin Belleville between the handle and star just takes up space and is not needed for anything else. File 13 is a good place for those.
