I'm setting up some saltwater reels with 100lb. powerpro backer, getting line slippage at about 8lb. drag. I was thinking of pinning the spools with a 1/16" or 3/32" s.s. rivet. Any one have any experience here? (Yes, I did give the spool a wrap of tape, and I'm pretty sure I want to pin the spool so I can coat it with boeshield for protection) Thanks

Here is a link on how to properly spool braid.  If done correctly, it should not slip.

You don't need to pin the spool. Either put a few yard of mono below the spectra, or use some tape on the spectra. I use flexwrap but first aid tape works just as well.

I use Flex Wrap/Vet Wrap when I put spectra on my reels but when using hollow I also splice in a 10' or so section of hollow Dacron on the spool end.
