Diezel DZ30D Handle/Knob

I have a DZ30D that works very well, but will need a new crank knob shaft at some point.  Buy new, or is there an alternative such as threading the crank and using an appropriate size rod/bolt to replace the pressed in knob shaft? 
PS: am upgrading drags discs and replacing level wind shaft and follower.

there are plenty of knobs that will fit on this handle arm.  you have to drill out the old grip.  i have some, so does http://smoothdrag.com/
