Gulf State Pier, Orange Beach, AL Saturday 04/05 Take 2

Copy of my Pier Report on the pier's forums.

My son and I got to the pier about 0630am and stayed until 1830pm.

Passed the T an the Spanish were trying hard to pretend to chew the pier down, keychain to hatchet handle.
It was almost as dangerous as the Sabiki Brigade with a the Gotchas, jigs and bubble rigs flailing around.

Duck, dodge, dash and we proceeded to the Octi and the Sheep bite was consistent with periods of downright chew down during a couple of passing heavy showers.
They'd really turn on, hook one and half a dozen or more were chasing them all the way to the surface.
Couple of people were snagging them at those times.

There was a perpetual cadre of Cobe hunters staring into the waters of the Gulf.
I swear some were muttering incantations or prayers to Neptune or whomever.
I never saw a Cobe, saw a Cobe thrown on, nor saw any real Cobe induced chaos.
Had my son wrangle an LY away from a guy lucky enough to catch a couple, promptly bottom rigged him and waited for a hungry Ling to eat him... No luck.

Sheeps finally shutdown around 1600, they seemed more interested in sex than food.
Heck, catch a male sheep and they were spewing milt on the deck... Horny lil' SOBs.
We'd put ten nice ones in our cooler by then, so we went down to the T to see what we could see, and we saw more Spaniards.
So we joined the crowd, started throwing on'em, and soon we put a few in our cooler to join the Sheeps.
Mmmmm, our first Spanish of the season... I foresee broiled Spaniards on french bread with tartar sauce for lunch tomorrow, YUM!

One more trip to the Octi, no sheeps biting, just more orgy in progress.
Much like a trip to Biloxi, I threw my Ling jig just in case the Gods would smile on me and bless me with a jackpot.
And just like the casinos, I didn't beat the odds.

Aside from it being cloudy, a few sprinkles, a couple patches of fleeting sunshine and two real showers, the day was really nice.
Not too windy, not too wet and plenty of fish.
I tell ya twelve hours on the pier makes for a long day, we may have been tuckered out, but we were happy and had a cooler much heavier than when we arrived.

Short two Spanish that got cleaned and ate for lunch.



Nathaniel's biggest sheep, bigger than the first one he nailed, 21" &  6#2oz after sitting in the cooler all night.
He beat me to the punch an put the first fish in our cooler, it was 19" & 5#5oz.
