Nice reel!

I purchased a maroon 501 on E-bay from a seller in Utah.  The photos appeared to show rust on the reel and I got it for a very good price.  When I got the reel the "rust" was iron heavy dust "glued" to the reel from age.  All of the oil and grease in the reel had flowed to the bottom of the parts and was petrified, causing it to feel jerky.  This reel had never been used and set in a dusty area for many years.  I cleaned it up and it is now gathering dust on my shelf, I have rougher ones I fish.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Thanks Alto Mare - I may bug you if I have some questions  8)

Keta - Pretty awesome how these things can take a beating.  I think I'm going to start searching them out at yard sales and what not, like many of you do  ;)
