Baitrunner drag not clicking

My 6500B's main drag isn't clicking.  Upon closer inspection I noticed the "gear" on the main shaft the spool clicker hits is free spinning, which is not the case on my other baitrunners.  I have no idea how this may have happened.  Any way to secure it again, or is a new main shaft in order?

It sounds like it's stuck with the bait runner on.  The shaft should not turn with the bait runner off.  Has the reel been apart?
