Just wondering if it is possible to increase the gear ratio on this reel from the stock 4.5-1 to something approaching 6-1 ?
Also is it possible to increase the drag poundage available to say 15lbs from the stock (I believe) 10lbs ?
Just read on another thread that it is not advisable to try to increase the drag on these reels but I would still be interested in increasing the gearing if at all possible ?

That is a shame as from what I have read the 975ld would be the perfect reel for uptiding, retrieve ratio aside.
Looks like the Abu 7500c3 Hi-Speed"s  are still the best reel for what I use them for.
